How to obtain an Australian Passport in Switzerland

The Passport section at the Australian Consulate-General in Geneva is open to the public,
Monday to Friday from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm

The Consulate-General is closed on the following public holidays
Passport lodgement is by Appointment Only.
Appointments take place between 9.30-11.30 and 14.00-16.30

 

Are you heading back to Australia for Christmas? To avoid delays and dramas please remember to travel on your Australian passport and remember to renew it in time. Our offices close on Friday, 23 December and will not reopen until Tuesday, 3 January 2017. 

All Australians, including dual nationals should enter and leave Australia on an Australian passport.

Appointments with our Honorary Consul are ONLY available on a Wednesdays from 16:00 to 18:00. If you are unable to make an appointment to meet your travel needs you will need to attend an interview in Geneva.

  • Under our Client Service Charter, we aim to issue passports within three weeks.
  • Priority Processing Service is not available in Switzerland.
  • You should plan your travel accordingly and lodge your application early to ensure you receive your passport in good time.

Please note:

Children aged 16/17: From 1 January 2016, child applicants aged 16 or 17 will be issued with a 10-year passport instead of the five-year passport. Applications must still include parental consent, and they must be personally lodged by the applicant together with a parent/guardian. The application fee will be the same as for adults, reflecting the longer validity of the passport.

ADULT PASSPORT
PC7 FORM

You can renew your passport using the PC7 streamlined application process if:

  • You are 18 or older, and your most recent Australian passport was issued when you were 16 or older and was valid for at least two years when issued, and that passport is still current or expired less than three years ago.
  • Your personal details – name, sex, place and date of birth – must be the same as on your last passport. If your personal details have changed, you will need to complete a PC8 application form

  • Your passport expired more than three (3) years ago
  • Your passport was issued with less than two years validity (i.e. emergency passport)

CHILD PASSPORT

Must be lodged by a parent(s) or person with parental responsibility for the child applicant. The lodging parent/guardian is not required to be an Australian citizen.

  • Children aged 0-15 years are not required to attend the interview.

 

  • Children aged 16 and 17 years must attend the interview with the lodging parent(s)/person(s) with parental responsibility. The new passport will be issued with a validity of 10 years.
